Cap'n Jazz tickets

American emo pioneers Cap’n Jazz are celebrating the 30 year anniversary of their only full-length studio album. The album, Burritos, Inspiration Point, Fork Balloon Sports, Cards in the Spokes, Automatic Biographies, Kites, Kung Fu, Trophies, Banana Peels We've Slipped On, and Egg Shells We've Tippy Toed Over, or Shmap’n Shmazz for short, was a genre-defining record released at the exposition of the emo genre. Don’t miss their homage to the album and all that followed it when Cap’n Jazz comes to San Francisco, California this November. Be there!

Cap’n Jazz was one of the leading bands in the early-to-mid-90s emo scene. With their first and only album, Shmap’n Shmazz, they helped shape the next big wave of emo that was developing at the time. And now, 30 years later, they’re getting the band back together to perform all their signature hits from Shmap’n Shmazz and beyond. Check them out when they play at The Great American Music Hall this November! Seriously, you won’t regret it.

To celebrate, Cap’n Jazz are headed out on a small handful of tour dates scattered throughout the US and South America, including one highly anticipated show in San Francisco, California on November 19th 2025. Because of its constantly evolving sound inspiring countless subgenres and offshoots, emo has historically been quite hard to define. There are very few bands that are widely accepted as emo with no stipulations, and Cap’n Jazz is one of them. Their first and only studio album, most often shortened to Shmap’n Shmazz, largely influenced the Midwest Emo subgenre while also paving the way for a new era of mainstream emo at the time. The album was a hit at the time, and has since become essential listening for any emocore connoisseur.

But while both the album itself and Cap’n Jazz as a band are certified emo legends, Shmap’n Shmazz is the only album Cap’n Jazz has ever released. Although the band has reunited on multiple occasions for the odd performance here and there, they have never added to their small but incredibly influential discography.

Now, Cap’n Jazz are reuniting once again for a select few shows spanning multiple continents. The band will begin their seven-show run with a performance at the Cine Joia in Sao Paulo, Brazil on November 8th 2025, with the final show being set for November 21st 2025 at the Hollywood Palladium in Los Angeles, California, but you should definitely check out their show at The Great American Music Hall in San Francisco, California on November 19th 2025 first! Seriously, you can’t miss it! Make sure you snag yourself some tickets while you can… don’t miss out!
